Collection: 4711 For Women

4711’s “Kölnisch Wasser,” or Eau de Cologne, is a legendary fragrance that has captivated the senses for over two centuries. The origins of this iconic scent trace back to 1792, when Wilhelm Mühlens, a German merchant, was entrusted with a unique recipe featuring a harmonious blend of herbs and citrus oils distilled in alcohol. Recognizing its potential, Mühlens launched a production facility in Cologne to bring this “miracle water” to the masses. The brand acquired its famous name when the city re-numbered its streets, and Mühlens’s property became 4711 Glockengasse. The elegant logo that graces its packaging was introduced around 1900 and remains unchanged today. As the brand evolved, it expanded its offerings in the 1920s and 1930s with perfumes like Tosca and Troika. In 2009, 4711 launched a new line of colognes influenced by botanical blends, while 2011 saw the release of the aptly timed Nouveau Cologne on July 4th (4.7.11). Although the original store was destroyed in World War II, the current flagship on Glockengasse continues to draw visitors from around the world. Today, the storied 4711 brand is owned by Mäurer & Wirtz, preserving its rich heritage while embracing modern innovations.
